Twenty days before Birthday Week!

I just wanted to share the awesome couple of updates that I have:

Also, tonight I finished up my tattoo! It was around an hour and a half, and I got a couple of touch-ups and all of the colour filled in. I have to do touch-ups at the end of January, but it's fully coloured now, and I'm just so happy! I can't wait to show you guys (pics up tomorrow)!

Christmas is coming very fast, and I only have two more days of final exams before I say goodbye to my first semester of college. I can't believe it's already over, this year has gone by faster than ever..
I will be doing some of my Christmas shopping this weekend, seeing as I haven't even started yet!

Getting more and more antsy with every approaching day.. So close to leave day!

Only thirty days before the trip! So close to leave-time!

I've been going through my list of things to pack, and will start the preparing very soon. I need to make sure that everything fits in my two carry-on bags and my small purse. Air Canada changed their rules, and all luggage that goes under the plane you must pay for. Super lame. Auntie's already packed, it's giving me butterflies! I'm so excited to see her! We'll be meeting at the Toronto Airport and flying to Memphis on the same flight. I'm still in disbelief of it all. I can't believe I'm going to be actually doing this!!

I've been on a money worry for the past little while, but I think I've gotten it all sorted out. I should be able to do the trip without any cash worries! Which is a big load off of my shoulders. Being a full-time student is difficult.

I'll be making a video when I begin my packing! I just felt like I had to update and put something, seeing as I hadn't written in a while. My days are busy, getting a lot of work crammed into the final weeks before Christmas and the trip. Lots is going on at the same time! Good thing I like to keep busy.

The Sun never sets on the King.

For years I've talked about getting a tattoo. My parents refused to sign the waivers, however, and I was forced to wait to be of legal age.

Finally, I turned 18! Sweet victory! I was so happy to finally be able to go out, buy drinks, but most importantly: get my first tattoo. I thought about what I wanted for a long time. I'd had so many different ideas, but was worried that I would regret them a few years down the line.
One day, I was going through some Elvis vinyls on eBay to try and find some first-batch 1956 Sun 45s. Then, it hit me.

I got in contact with the tattoo artists who did one of my guitarist's latest tattoos, and booked it as soon as I could. It took some time to get the art finished, but once it was, the game was on. I went in for my first sitting on Nov. 6. After three hours in the chair, my self-control was wearing extremely thin. I couldn't concentrate anymore, and decided it was best to come in for a second sitting once the parts that were done had healed. I got through all the outline, and around three-quarters of the colouring. For a first one, I really didn't go easy on myself. I go back in sometime this month to get the colour finished and the touch-ups done.
I cannot wait to have it completed! It already looks amazing, I will proudly show off my art for the rest of my life!

What exactly it is? You won't know until I post up the pictures of it done. Believe me, it's worth the wait. Jessie (the artist) says it's one of her most intricate ones. She's never done something like this before.

The Introduction!

So this is the official, grand opening of my wonderful, little travel series.

For starters, my name is Mae Anderson. I'm an 18 year-old singer-songwriter/French television personality/full-time student in Edmonton, AB, Canada-- if you don't know where that is, it's on the Western side of the country. Google Maps it. I'm taken by a wonderful, handsome young man named Spencer. I have a beautiful younger sister, Erika, two loving parents, and two kitties which I call my princes. Within the next month, I will convert to a vegetarian for the first time-- wish me luck! ;)
I have a passion for music that is difficult to describe in human words. I also have a fascination for the 40s, 50s, and 60s that goes beyond belief.

I grew up with Elvis' presence constantly surrounding me. I don't remember a time when I didn't know who Elvis was. My love (or rather, as some people call it, obsession) never ceased to multiply over the years, until I finally had my own money and could begin to afford collectors' items. There is a mystery behind the King of rock'n'roll that will forever intrigue me. It may have to do with the fact that I wasn't part of that generation. I never met him, nor heard him live.. and there's something about that, that eats away at me. To me, he's almost like a mythological being, someone from legends and fairytales. To think that somebody so incredibly talented, warm-hearted, and good-looking walked this Earth... it's hard to wrap your head around something so magnificent, no?

I digress.

To say the least, I've been searching for answers about him my whole life. I'm finally taking the plunge and going back to his home, Graceland, in Memphis, Tennessee, where I will celebrate his 78th birthday along with thousands of other die-hard fans. This will definitely be a trip-of-a-lifetime for me!

I'll be making a few vlogs before I go, every day while I'm there, and a couple when I get back for reflection and review purposes. Many blogs will follow.
